When you hire your wedding photographer, you can look at the photography packages they have available before you book so that you can ensure you are getting a good amount of coverage for your special day.
There are a variety of coverage methods that photographers use, you just need to decide which package is right for you as a couple and that the end result will be great to look back on for many years to come.
Pre-Wedding Photo Shoot
As a great way of celebrating your engagement, photographers such as Mark Colombus offer photo shoots that take place a day, a week, or even months before the wedding.
This can be done in a place that holds sentimental value for you such as where you met, your first date or where you got engaged. Places with beautiful or interesting backdrops make the best photos, and this type of shoot is ideal for anyone that wants to document a wedding from start to finish.
Photo Booth
A fun way of keeping your guests entertained at your wedding is setting up a photo booth. This is usually led by an assistant photographer and guests are given a range of props and costumes to pose with for a bit of eccentric fun at your reception.
Props and costumes might include glitter wigs, novelty hats, a range of eyewear or random character masks to play around with.
Installing a photo booth will generally cost extra as it requires another photographer to run the booth, but it is worth it for the entertainment value alone and is a great idea if you have no other entertainment planned! It also captures your guests having fun, which is one of the joys of weddings anyway…
Full Day Coverage
Where some photographers will come to your wedding expecting to do about 5 hours, some offer coverage of the full day. If you do want a full day’s photographic coverage then make sure that you arrange this with the photographer well in advance.
Full coverage will usually involve the photographer arriving as the bridal party prepares where he will take both candid and posed photographs. The photographic coverage will continue throughout the day, and will end during the evening’s celebrations later at the reception.
Photographers may ask to see venues and have a proper meeting with you beforehand to discuss the type of photos you want, and if you organise your priorities early on, you then don’t need to worry about them on the day.
